First of all I would like to commend the staff at Ultimate Airsoft for being the first indoor airsoft only field in Toronto. When I first went to Ultimate Airsoft it was my 3rd airsoft game and I found UA to be miles better than the other games I had attended. Ever since first coming, I found myself coming back more often and have been to UA probably around 15-20 times and my experiences have varied from the most fun I've had, which was probably 80% of the games, but for the other 20% I just wanted to leave.
The good:
-The solid floors provided a very good platform to be able to move around effectively as opposed to other "sandy" airsoft places which I liked quite a bit because it accommodated my very mobile play style.
-Constant improvements to the field allow for new element to be overcome from the last times I've played.
-The games that had multiple respawns which is one of the main reasons I kept coming back. I feel that as a new player the ability to respawn, realistic or not, really adds to the fun factor for the game because I don't want to play a game where if I get shot in the first minute, I'm out and have to wait for another 10 minutes to get back in.
-The facility allowed for many gametypes to be really fun. For example the palace was the perfect spot for having a game of attack and defend, there was a flag for raise the flag, and the hazmat gametype with the buzzing box was very unique and fun.
-I found the field to be very pistol friendly as people with pistols could still compete with AEG users. The ranges of engagement really depended on your play style because pistol users could go up close to get a kill or if you wanted to stay back to pick people off with an AEG, it would also accommodate that play style. Overall, it was very flexible for all sorts of players.
The bad:
-On the days where I came late, I found that the games that had more than 20 people were not fun at all. I wouldn't be able to move because if I were to eliminate an enemy, there would be another around the corner, which did not allow for mobility to be a key factor in winning.
I would suggest that if games were to get crowded (maybe 20+) people, you could run 2 heats of players so it will be more fun for everyone.
-Sometimes wait times for the next game took too long.
Although this depends also on the players and how long they take to reload also affected this, I feel that it could be managed more efficiently.
-As inevitable as it may be, I always found BBs getting stuck to my shoe, which made running more difficult at even once made me slip as I was running.
-I recognize that being a new business, prices are a thing that have to be addressed. I come to UA pretty often and find myself spending about $45 at a time which is pretty steep. Maybe you guys could offer a monthly membership or something for us frequent players. But I do believe that the prices are justified because UA is an airsoft only field and the ammunition is relatively cheap compared to other competing hobbies that may cost 5-10 times as much.
All in all, Ultimate Airsoft has made me stick to airsoft for even longer because of all the fun I had been having and I would recommend it to anyone else starting airsoft or intermediates looking to have a good time.
